15/07: Uber Lucky Day

Writing today, on the 17th of July, looking upon the 15th(which was merely the day before yesterday)seems so much like a dream.
Yeap. Super lucky day. Nothing at all that I can recall went wrong.
To see a summarized list of the lucky events, scroll to the bottom of this post.
If you have time, read the whole post, and decide for yourself. ;)
Beware, the (almost) entire story is super duper long. Well it's already the abridged version, but it still IS long.

OH, and this is the sequel to the post 'Opposite Directions'
(see- http://dmvhello.blogspot.com/2010/03/opposite-directions.html)

STARTS HERE:
On Friday, Pauline and I spontaneously decided to go to Peter's house. Again. At 6PM. Of course it wasn't originally like that.
Pauline had been asked to treat all the 'laba-laba' members to a few rounds of billiard. It turns out that out of all of them, only Adhit and Andrew showed up. Anyways, Pauline had already invited me. Well, the main reason I so spontaneously decided to go out at 4PM yesterday was because I wanted to see Peter. HAHA. Well, he didn't show.
Pauline arrived first, and I was about to go back home because she said Peter wasn't there. Then, she said 'Hey, we should just go to him instead'.

Trying to track him own for months, we thought that we finally succeeded... since the reason why he didn't go to play billiard was because 'no one would send him there'. If he was telling the truth, then he would be at home the whole night. That would mean we had him cornered.
He had once threatened Pauline and I that if we were to ever show up in front of his house, he wouldn't be home (True to his promise, he did do that once, actually on our first failed attempt to get him -see http://dmvhello.blogspot.com/2010/03/opposite-directions.html). This time though, there was simply no way for him to escape.

I left from my house at 4.45PM and arrived at Cilandak Town Square at about 5.15PM; Which is surprisingly fast, since that's the beginning of rush hour in Jakarta.
There, only Pauline, Adhitya and Andrew were present(We had a brief encounter Nicole and Menora and their friend there too though). We didn't actually stay long. Well since I arrived late, I got to play one game. I sunk 2 balls btw! Hahaha (Okay, pardon my excitement, I can't really play billiard). Pauline too only played one game. While playing, we decided to invite Andrew and Adhit over to Peter's house but they said that they'd come only if Peter has a working PS2. Somehow, they had the idea that his was broken. Sure enough Peter has a working PS2, I even had to BBM his to ask -,- it went something like:
"Peter, do you have a PS2?"
"Yes"
"Is it broken?"
"No,Why would it be broken?"
"Someone told me it was broken"
"That's retarded...who told you that?"
"Uhhhh Adhit and Andrew"
"Zzzz it's not like they've ever been to my house"

Well honestly, I thought they HAD been to Peter's house at least once. Really, Pauline and I, at that time had been closer than Adhit or Andrew to actually going to into his house. Adhit had only been to his complex, Andrew hadn't ever been close to it, where as Pauline and I have literally touched the gate.

How they came up with the conclusion Peter's PS2 was broken, I have no idea.

So four of us left to Peter's house. What I know as an area of uber BAD traffic was... not trafficky at all. It took us about 20 minutes to arrive at his complex. It would have taken much longer if not for Adhit, who lead us there since he lives near and knows the way. It took us another 10 minutes to find the house.
We found it at last. Andrew was already hungry when we got there so he was looking forward to the free food.

We waited outside his front gate for close to 5 minutes. We actually had to call his house to get him to open up the gate (God knows what he was doing). The conversation between Adhit and Peter was something like this;
Adhit: "Peter! Can I come over to house with Andrew?"
Peter: "Yeah! Sure, just come over!"
Adhit: "Ok, great! Open the gate Peter! I'm here in front!"
Peter: "Uhhh... OK OK"

And of course, A few seconds later, there he was.
Since he only knew that Andrew and Adhit were coming, boy was he shocked to see Pauline and I (Well I don't know if he was shocked, he might have actually guessed we were coming because of the BBM earlier). I would guess that without Adhit and Andrew, entrance into his abode would have been a much more of a challenge.

We were welcomed by a Peter wearing a huge oversized blue and red Superman tee and black super short shorts. Well, to be precise, I don't know if Pauline and I were welcomed he just sort of left the gate open after letting Andrew and Adhit in. I'm a little sure he was a teeny bit annoyed at our presence. Or maybe he was secretly happy, who knows?

Anyway, Just like Adhit and Andrew had planned, three of them played PS2.
Me and Pauline were left to watch. Well a few minutes later, we decided to do what WE had planned. Go and make an alliance with his little sister.
We stepped out of the room and sure enough, she was there, wandering in the hall.
What was the first thing we did when we met her?
Take a photo for evidence of course. HAHA.

Well, I won't explain any details further than this point. No details about his house, what we saw, what was said, what was done.
Well the excitement of the journey is usually the best part isn't it? Except for this time, I'd have to say that what I saw matched up to the excitement of the journey, actually.
After all, I HAD been wondering for months now what the interior of his house looked like.

I'll just tell you that later, Andrew got his free dinner and everyone was happy on the way back. And that Andrew had a gas problem on the way home after his HUGE meal. He's tiny for someone who eats his portions but still feels hungry after.

Everything (surprisingly) went completely according to plan, even though the plan was actually only made super spontaneously.

------------------------------------
WHY WAS IT LUCKY?
To sum it all up, I say that we had divine help.
There were a couple of lucky incidents that aided our success in finding him this time. It felt like God had made it almost too easy.

1. I arrived in CiTos uber quickly despite actually considering turning back and going home.
Luck-O-Meter rating: 2/5
Yes, I admit it was Pak Mairin's skill in driving and a bit of luck mixed together

2. Adhit and Andrew ONLY were there. This is great because(1)these two are our tickets into Peter's home. Not only that,(2) these two are our FREE tickets into his home; usually we'd have to bring a peace offering into Peter's house out of courtesy, like the box of danish bisuits we bought the last time. (3) Adhit knew exactly how to get into the complex, since his house is near the area. (4) If more people were present, we'd all probably not fit into Pauline's car.
Luck-O-Meter rating: 3/5

3. Our way there was paved with GOLD. Not literally of course. Our earlier attempt to do the same was a waste of time, because it was so jammed. It took us 20 minutes this time to get there while before, it took about 1 and 1/2 hours to travel the same road, and that was in the afternoon. Usually, it IS that jammed.
Luck-O-Meter rating: 5/5
I still have no idea, absolutely no clue of how it was so car-free that day. Even during rush hour. On a weekday.

4. When we arrived there, we actually found out that Peter and his sister and his parents were going to leave for Singapore THE VERY NEXT DAY. In the morining. Don't you think it's simply divine how we somehow landed in his house the day before he was going to Singapore?
Luck-O-Meter rating: 5/5
No comment. Thank you God.

''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''
Well, if you don't think that the above is pure evidence that the 15th of July 2010 is the official lucky day, than think about this.
It was not only lucky for Pauline and I, but hear these stories out.
These are events that didn't aid our arrival to Peter's house, but are super lucky anyways.

5. Earlier that day, before I went to Peter's house, I was actually at PIM, and on the way home, as my car was leaving the Dharmawangsa area, my car happened to pass my sister, and Karen (Pauline's sister) walking on the road. Turns out, they were on the way to Dharmawangsa square after a MUAY THAI session, and ofcourse, they asked for a lift there. Walking there would have taken quite a while but with the car, it was a short while. Now isn't that lucky?
Luck-O-Meter rating: 5/5
A totally RANDOM encounter. The car wasn't even in a jam, it wasn't even about to stop, the traffic was great. It was like a timed encounter. They walked right up the road to our car, just as it was passing. AMAZING :O

6. Later that day, in Pauline's car, Adhit said; "It's IMPOSSIBLE that our tab for two hours of billiard, a coke, and rental of two billiard gloves would add up to 115thou. Think about it, the gloves themselves are 35thou each. Hey, do you think they've felt their 70thou loss by now?"
Luck-O-Meter rating: 5/5
Totally lucky. I mean who doesn't want to pay 70thou less? It's not like they intended not to pay. It was just lucky the lady who rented them the billiard gloves forgot all about them.
.........................................

Well that's it :D
